Telemedicine: Understanding Sustained Operations is the new national forum focusing on the business case
and practical application of telemedicine. The meeting content is
selected based on those programs and studies of telemedicine that
produce tangible value to health care providers, payers, policymakers
and consumers.
Broad focus areas of the meeting
include evaluations, reviews and updates on operational telemedicine
across all health care sectors including
employer health care interest and plans for telemedicine, and public
policy considerations for telemedicine with economic model
revisions and incentives.

The AT&T Center for Telehealth Research and Policy at UTMB exists to perform outcome studies, and undertake policy development in the areas of telemedicine, telehealh, and technology-supported medicine. The center studies the operational and clinical aspects of the telemedicine industry. It also is an information clearinghouse on telehealth issues, nationally and internationally. Critical research on outcomes, effectiveness, and best practices in telehealth take place in the center, whose staff also develops, promotes, and communicates policies relating to telehealth.
